■
“Transition to Betterness (T2B) is dedicated to providing comfort to patients and families impacted by a life-altering illness.”
Transition to Betterness (T2B) is a grassroots charity rooted in Windsor–Essex, dedicated to bringing comfort, dignity, and a sense of home to patients and families navigating some of life’s most difficult moments. For more than 25 years, T2B has worked alongside local hospitals and healthcare partners to bridge the gap between hospital and home: offering tangible comfort, emotional support, and human connection when it matters most.
Through ongoing comfort-based programs across all major local hospitals, including Windsor Regional Hospital, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, Erie Shores HealthCare, and the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre, T2B impacts thousands of patients, families, and caregivers every year. Every initiative is designed with one core belief in mind: comfort is not a luxury - it is essential.

Programs
Comfort that extends beyond medical care.
At the heart of Transition to Betterness are ongoing comfort-based programs designed to support patients and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Our programs focus on the things that often go unnoticed in hospital settings—warmth, dignity, connection, and familiarity.
By providing tangible items, thoughtfully designed spaces, and compassionate services, T2B helps bridge the emotional gap between hospital and home. These programs reduce patient isolation, ease stress for families, and create moments of relief in environments that can otherwise feel overwhelming. Each year, our programs touch thousands of lives across Windsor–Essex hospitals.

Volunteer
Compassion in action starts with people like you.
Volunteers are the heart of Transition to Betterness. Their time, empathy, and dedication allow our programs to reach patients and families every single day. From supporting families at the bedside to assisting with events, baking initiatives, decorating committees, and office support, there are countless ways to get involved.Volunteer opportunities are available for all ages and backgrounds—including retirees, international students, and high school students—and no medical experience is required. Whether you’re looking to give back regularly or help when you can, volunteering with T2B is a powerful way to make a meaningful difference in your local community.

Events
Community-driven events with a lasting impact.
Fundraising events are the lifeblood of T2B. Our signature events and third-party fundraisers bring the community together to support the comfort programs that patients and families rely on throughout the year.
From large-scale signature events to intimate community-led fundraisers, every event helps ensure T2B can continue operating without government funding. By attending, sponsoring, or hosting an event of your own, you become an essential part of delivering comfort, care, and dignity to local families when they need it most.
At T2B, our mission is simple but powerful. We exist to make hospital environments feel more human—more welcoming, more compassionate, and more supportive for those facing illness, uncertainty, and loss. Whether through thoughtfully designed spaces, comfort items, or meaningful moments of connection, we aim to ease the emotional, physical, and financial burdens families experience during extended hospital stays.

Words from the community
“Those comfort totes mean so much to the patients receiving treatment at the Cancer Clinic. I was unlucky enough to be there but lucky enough to receive one 1.5 years ago, a very kind gesture and did not go unnoticed.”
Tina Collins-Babechuk
