We are excited to announce our 1st Capital Campaign on the new "T2B Supportive Care Unit" at the Tayfour Campus on Thursday October 18, 2012. The campaign launch will be taking place at Malden Park which is located at 1453 Prince Road, within the Tayfour Campus at 10:45am. This campaign is called "From Rooms to Wings" and will be T2B's largest fundraising effort to date having to raise 1.4 million dollars in two years. As our population ages and cancer rates grow the need for hospital beds and care in our area is undeniable. We are pleased to be partnering once again with Windsor Regional Hospital and local Interior Designer Robert Gauthier to create a warm and comfortable hospital environment for cancer patients and families in our community. The unit which will be supporting palliative care patients in our community will also be complimented with our T2B Concierge Service, Comfort Cart, Music Therapy and Comfort Blanket Programs. The extension of our programs to the Tayfour Campus with longer hours is included in the cost of the campaign for the first year. The newly refurbished rooms on this unit will include T2B touches such as TV's, refrigerators, warm wall treatments, new patient beds, pull out chairs and couches, new flooring, wood furnishing and an overall feel of home. The unit will also include a family patient waiting area with a computer kiosk, modern and spacious hallways and a nurse’s station which will be outlined with inspirational murals specially designed for this unit.
Also within the unit will be a community kitchen in which AM800 CKLW will be encouraging all their listeners to donate to by clicking on the donate now button on the front page of our website. Be sure to enter AM800 Community Kitchen in the donation description when donating online. You can also call the T2B office to make a donation as an AM800 CKLW listener or as a friend to T2B at (519)944-5143. The community kitchen on the unit will be open 24 hours to family members which will give them an area to have a quiet meal in, or to have another space to sit in while visiting their loved one. It will be furnished with a family dining table, fridge, stove, dishwasher, coffee and tea, plates, cups and accessories. The wall and window treatments will be decorated with warm rich colours that are sure to make everyone feel comfortable and at home.
