Windsor, ON - Caesars Windsor donates $25,000 to Transition to Betterness on December 3, 2015 at Windsor Regional Hospital for T2B’s room refurbishment program.Through its annual Concerts for a Cure campaign, Caesars Windsor has donated $25,000 to Transition to Betterness’ room refurbishment program.
Thanks to this generous donation, a semi-private room at Windsor Regional Hospital Met Campus Oncology Unit 4 West has been transformed to provide patients and their families with a more private and comfortable environment. These modernized T2B rooms feature warm colours, wood trimming and flooring, flat screen televisions with prepaid cable, a fridge, and a sleeper chair, all with the special touches of a family home. T2B official spokesperson, Dave Hunter, of the Dave and Chuck the Freak Show on 101WRIF said, “Since the first room refurbishment 19 years ago, T2B has shattered Windsor-Essex expectations about providing comfort to patients and their families impacted by a life altering illness.”

The Concierge Program operates daily to provide patients and their families with support, information, entertainment such as iPads, and complimentary meal cards, Tim Hortons’ cards and parking passes.

The Comfort Cart provides complimentary fresh fruit, pastries, frozen yogurt and refreshments in addition to the hospital menu. Finally, the Comfort Blanket Program provides patients with a warm, cozy blanket, which is theirs to keep and bring home. Caesars Windsor Vice President of Human Resources, Kelly Wolfe-Gregoire, said she was happy to announce that T2B were the recipients of the proceeds from Caesars Windsor’s annual Concerts for a Cure campaign. “As a T2B volunteer, it’s so special to see those moments when a patient can have a treat and a coffee or a juice with a loved one. It doesn’t matter why they are there or it doesn’t matter where they are, they are able to have that special and very precious moment together,” Wolfe-Gregoire said. “I genuinely appreciate being able to be a part of it.” Due to the high demand, the Caesars Windsor room is already in use. To date, T2B has refurbished over 40 rooms in Windsor-Essex hospitals. Windsor Regional Hospital Vice President Cancer Services, Renal, Patient Relations and Legal Affairs, Monica Staley, said from her experience in the hospital, patients and families were always thrilled when they were able to stay in a T2B room. “Sometimes it is more than procedures and medication that help provide comfort and care that patients require,” Staley said. “There is no tangible measurement and value that the T2B rooms provide to patients and families in a real time of need and a time when they need to feel in a home-like environment. We can’t thank T2B and Caesars Windsor enough.”
T2B funds and operates 17 programs within Windsor-Essex hospitals and healthcare facilities, with a mission to provide comfort to patients and their families impacted by a life-altering illness.
