After the refurbishment of the T2B Paediatric Oncology Satellite Unit in 2006, T2B began to learn of new and immediate needs of the parents, family members and paediatric patients. A few of the needs were medical teaching puppets and books for the staff to engage the patients with. These books and puppets are used to help with parts of treatment or adjusting to new events (i.e. loss of hair), as well as to provide some comfort and reassurance. Medical teaching books and puppets are also valuable for preparation for specific procedures that children go through such as MRIs, LPs, Port Access, etc. Board games, movies, Wii games, art supplies and so forth always need replenishment for infection control and to keep updated on the newest items for the children.
